On 8 November, at least 15 people were killed by Lakurawa militants in Mera village, Augie Local Government Area (LGA) in Kebbi state. A traditional leader noted that this was the first attack by the group in the area. Yansa Kai, a local volunteer armed group, retaliated on 13 November by killing six Fulani men in the same village. Additionally, threats made by Lakurawa leader Ameer Habib Tajje to notorious bandit Bello Turji on 12 November have raised the risk of clashes between Lakurawa militants and bandits in the state. On 18 November, Defence Minister Muhammad Badaru Abubakar and President Bola Tinubu pledged to commit military forces and resources to expelling Lakurawa and other Islamist militants from Kebbi state.
