Duties + Responsibilities
Contribute to updating AKE’s online country intelligence platform Global Intake, focusing on kidnap and ransom.
Contribute to AKE’s incident databases.
Contribute to AKE’s Daily Risk Updates.
Assist in political and security risk consulting projects.
Requirements
A strong interest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), along with familiarity with the region’s political, economic, and security trends, is essential.
Knowledge of/ or interest in Iraq and Syria is encouraged.
Knowledge of/or interest in North Africa and the Gulf region is also welcomed.Candidates should indicate their specific focus in the subject line of their application email.
Ability to commit 10 hours per week. Although the tasks that candidates are requested to complete vary, most interns are asked to contribute to AKE’s Daily Risk Updates, which requires a commitment of around two hours each weekday.
Reliable internet access (this is a remote position).
Excellent written English, with a background in international politics, security, economics or a related field.
Proficiency in Arabic or French is preferred but not essential.
Ability to follow instructions and incorporate feedback effectively.
Please note that while this is a voluntary scheme, AKE aims to provide applicants with feedback and training as well as help and advice with future careers.
