This AKE Special Report examines the nature of youth-led ‘Gen Z’ protests in 10 countries across the globe since October 2024, and their impact on political and commercial landscapes. The report explores long-term economic and social frustrations, with key flashpoints acting as catalysts for widespread unrest. These include the 1 November 2024 collapse of a canopy at a train station in Novi Sad, Serbia, which killed 15 people, and the 25 September 2025 intensification of water and energy outages across Madagascar. It also assesses the level of damage and disruption sustained by commercial assets in each country, and evaluates where further youth-led protests are likely to emerge as anger over corruption and poor governance continues to grow in the coming months.
