As pioneers of Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) over thirty years ago, AKE continuously evolves our training content, scope, and delivery methodologies to meet the ever-changing challenges facing our clients.
Our dynamic 3-day residential course, presented in-person – is meticulously designed to assist individual journalists, media teams, NGOs, and corporate clients in preparing for and managing risks while traveling to and working in complex and potentially hostile environments.
AKE’s HEAT program is delivered through a blend of lectures, discussion groups, workshops, and practical simulations and exercises to accommodate varied learning styles. The training focuses on three key areas: preparation and planning, security, and medical. Modules within these areas include situational awareness, personal security, counter-surveillance, weapon effects, active shooter scenarios, civil unrest, journey management, kidnap and ransom, and trauma care.
Our team are qualified instructors who possess extensive knowledge and considerable experience in high-risk and complex environments worldwide. In addition to teaching, our instructors are operationally current, regularly deploying on various tasks, which allows them to bring up-to-date experience and specialist knowledge to enhance the delivery of our training courses.
