In 2024 over four billion people will head to the polls in more than 50 national electoral contests, marking the biggest-ever year for democracy. Seven of the 10 most populous countries in the world – including India, the United States (US), Indonesia, Pakistan, Russia and Mexico – are expected to vote in pivotal national elections, with impacts that are likely to reverberate far beyond their borders.
