The global lithium trade
There are few metals more valuable to a global clean energy transition than lithium. Lithium is the lightest metal in the world, with a higher energy density than others – making it ideal for batteries to power electric vehicles. Projections of industry experts suggest that demand for lithium will increase by around 25 per cent per year for the next decade. However, the rapid expansion in demand creates a series of new problems.
